Unlocking the Past: Ecclesiastes 3
Just as Ecclesiastes has two opposites in each verse, most months will leave you with two options to choose from.
December Verse: A time for war and a time for peace.
Challenge Theme: A book set at the end of a war
January’s Theme: Newest Book on your TBR Pile
In an effort to just get this post out there to you who are patiently waiting, I’m calling an audible. I failed my own challenge. Between a killer deadline, a family emergency that immediately followed, I got nothing for you. BUT thankfully YOU can still tell me what YOU read for the last month of the 2024 challenge.
This year’s challenge focuses on whittling down your current TBR pile, so grab the book that is either the most recently released or the newest one you’ve added to your pile and get to reading!

Loved the book I read Wilderness Wife by Delores Topliff. It takes place around the time of the War of 1812. Margurite’s first husband died at the time of the war and her second husband was in the war but most of the book takes place after thecwar.
Interesting! I haven’t heard of that book or that author. I’ll have to check it out!
I read All Things New by Lynn Austin. It was one of my favorite books of the year! I loved this reading challenge and read so many great books this year!
I’m so glad the challenge was a success. I haven’t read Lynn Austin yet, but she’s on my TBR.
I read “Joy to the World” by Carolyn Miller, Amanda Barratt, & Erica Vetsch. Amanda Barratt’s book “Far as the Curse Is Found” was set after the Napoleonic Wars. I enjoyed reading all three stories, plus this was my introduction (so to speak) to all of these authors! Each one has been on my want to read list, but have never read anything by them, until now. I’m looking forward to reading more of their books in the future!
Best wishes to you and your family. 🙂
That collection was amazing! I loved all the stories!
I read Roseanna White’s A Portrait of Loyalty, which takes place during the end of World War II. Thank you for the reading challenges!!
I’m so glad you enjoy them. That one is still on my TBR!
I read Christmas Still by Jennifer Q. Hunt. It was set during the first Christmas after WWI. It was a shorter book, but I enjoyed it!
Shorter books in the month of December are preferable! LOL
I read Daisies Are Forever by Liz Tolsma. It was an interesting book.
Liz does a great job of bringing forward bits of history I never knew about!
I read The Warmth of Snow, by Heidi Eljarbo. It’s not at the end of the Napoleonic war, but it towards the end of the war… it was interesting to read a Regency era romance, set in Sweden!
Oh that is unique! I’ll have to check it out!
I was only reading Christmas books in December so Christmas at Carnton by Tamera Alexander fit in perfectly with both my theme and yours!
Yay! Perfect!
I chose to read A Child for Christmas by Marissa Masterson, an author I just recently discovered.
Oh, I love finding new authors!
