Unlocking the Past: Ecclesiastes 3
Just as Ecclesiastes has two opposites in each verse, most months will leave you with two options to choose from.
September Verse: A time to tear and a time to mend.
Challenge Theme: A Tailor/Seamstress character
October Verse: A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
Challenge Theme: A mute/deaf character or a character who advocates for others
A Tailor-Made Bride
by Karen Witemeyer
Review by: Crystal Cauilld
This book was a reread for me, and I believe it was the first Kare Witemeyer book I ever read. I remember picking it up off my library’s new releases shelf and being hooked on her books from there on out. She is one of a handful of authors whose books I will purchase, even though I think I’m several series behind at this point. I adored how the beauty of life inspired Hannah Richards dress designs and outlook. She was a woman I could admire, with tenacity and kindness I hope to mimic in my life. And I LOVED Jericho/J.T.. He’s such a gruff but soft-hearted guy. This book was a great mix of humor, spiritual insight and growth, and sweet romance. I will always recommend Karen’s books!
Genre: Historical Romance, Western
Plot Overview:
Jericho “J.T.” Tucker wants nothing to do with Coventry, Texas’s new dressmaker. He’s all too familiar with her kind–shallow women more devoted to fashion than true beauty. Yet, except for her well-tailored clothing, this seamstress is not at all what he expected.
Hannah Richards is confounded by the man who runs the livery. The unsmiling fellow riles her with his arrogant assumptions and gruff manner while at the same time stirring her heart with unexpected acts of kindness. Which side of Jericho Tucker reflects the real man?
When Hannah decides to help Jericho’s sister catch a beau–leading to uproarious consequences for the whole town–will Jericho and Hannah find a way to bridge the gap between them?

I read A Tailor-Made Bride years ago and loved it! That’s the book that got me hooked on Karen Witemeyer, too. 🙂 This month I read Love from Afar by Penny Zeller. It was a quick and enjoyable read. Great for September since I didn’t have much time to read! 🙂
I read When Hope Sank by Denise Weimer for September. It takes place in Arkansas right after the Civil War and the main female character was mending clothes for Union soldiers without her family (who were Confederate sypathizers) knowing. She had a dream of working for a friend as a seamstress
I have no clue what to read for Oct. I need to find something short as I have many ARCs I signed up for.
I loved A Tailor-Made Bride when I read it years ago! For this month I read, the Weaver’s Daughter…not quite a perfect fit for the challenge, but close. It took me a while to get into it, but I did enjoy it.
I read Love from Afar by Penny Zeller. It was an interesting book.
I read Love from Afar by Penny Zeller. It was a quick read and I did enjoy it.
I read The Paris Dressmaker, by Kristy Cambron. The significance of fashion in Europe during ww2 isn’t often discussed, but this book did it perfectly. There’s a balanced between fashion and war, as well as between suspense and drama. 10/10 recommend!
I read The Seamstress of Acadie by Laura Frantz. It was such a moving and sweet read. I love her books.
The Hal-Stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda Brunstetter. Loved it and can’t wait to continue the series!
Should say ‘Half-Stitched’
