Reading Challenge 2026: Tackle the TBR Pile
This Month: September – Animal on the Cover
Next Month: October – Unusual Occupation
Being an author’s friend has benefits, including early access to a book not yet released. I got to read Liz’s book just before it went to the copy editor.
Even if you haven’t read the other Tracking Danger books in the series, you can pick up the story here, but you will definitely enjoy it more if you start with book 1, Too Late. In this third installment of Josh’s and Chloe’s story, their wedding is just weeks away when a tornado ravages their wedding venue while they are touring it and a nearby campground, where they must go conduct a search and rescue directly after surviving their own kiss with death. Throughout the whole series, we get to see Chloe wrestle with anxiety, and just as she thinks she’s finally got ahold of it, she’s thrown into the clutches of paralyzing anxiety. Watching her struggle personally and Josh struggle to know how to help her was so relatable–on both sides. There is a touch of mystery, and tornadoes are the only thing threatening Chloe’s life. I definitely recommend picking up this book and the series as a whole. I love getting to see one couple grow over the course of three books.
*Side note: Liz needs to stop writing natural disasters, because so far each book has had record-breaking natural disasters of the same variety she’s writing about happen right after she starts writing. Where she lives experienced a record number of tornadoes in a season while she wrote this book. So girl, stop it. We don’t need any more natural disasters.
Still Afraid by Liz Bradford
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Will the worst tornado season to ever hit eastern Tennessee ruin their wedding? Or will something more sinister ruin their lives?
After years of being plagued by anxiety, Chloe Jacobs finally feels like she can manage it. That is, until a tornado rips through the venue where she and Josh are finalizing wedding details. She holds herself together and throws herself into a search and rescue mission at a campground that was devastated by the same tornado. Amidst rescuing people caught in terrifying situations, Chloe finds a keepsake item in the wreckage of the tornado. But once she posts it online in an attempt to find the owner, someone begins tormenting Chloe.
Josh Schneider can’t wait to marry his best friend, and he isn’t going to let anything, whether it be a tornado or an unidentified threat, prevent that from happening. As increasingly frequent panic attacks grip Chloe, Josh wishes he could help ease her anxiety, but it’s not that simple.
They can’t stop the threats that come from the sky or from the mysterious villain with evil intentions. The only way Chloe can defend against them is to overcome her anxiety with the Lord’s help. If she doesn’t, her anxiety could incapacitate her at the wrong moment, and “until death do us part” may occur before vows can be exchanged.
Don’t miss Josh, Chloe, and Poirot’s first adventures in Too Late (Tracking Danger Book 1) and Swept Away (Tracking Danger Book 2)!
